1997Began training BJJ with Machado Brothers in Redondo Beach, CA.
Moved to Honolulu, HI. to attend the University of Hawaii and also began training at the Relson Gracie academy in Manoa.
Became an understudy/training partner of Baret Yoshida at the Gracie Academy.
1998Entered first serious BJJ tournament, the Hawaii State Championships and won the Gold Medal by defeating Kimo Kreiss in the finals in the Blue Belt division
2000Made professional mixed martial arts debut in SuperBrawl under the Grappling Unlimited banner at the Neal Blaisdell Center and successfully defeated Bob Ostovich by decision.
Competed in Japan for the very first time, getting a chance to fight then #3ranked Shooto fighter Akihiro Gono at the Kourakuen Hall, losing a decision.
Proudest accomplishment to date, graduated from the University of Hawaii with a BA in History and minor in Political Science.
2001Moved back to Los Angeles, CA. to pursue a high school teaching career and graduate studies. Began teaching World History and US Government at Los Angeles Senior High School and attending California State University @ Dominguez Hills.
2004Moved to Taipei, Taiwan to establish the first BJJ/MMA school in the country and established a competition team that included Taiwan's very first All-Japan BJJ champion, native-Taiwanese flyweight Kai Hung.
Received the Black Belt promotion from Baret Yoshida and Egan Inoue, two of the most respected and accomplished competitors in the sports of BJJ, MMA and Submission Wrestling.
2005Moved back to Los Angeles, CA. to continue training and resume competition career.
2007Selected to be a member of the UFC's "Ultimate Fighter"
